Juvenile
Restorative Panels
The panels are comprised of community volunteers who are specially trained
to participate in panel meetings.
panel goals:
- To restore the
victim of the crime.
- To give the victim
and community members an opportunity to discuss with offenders the harm
caused by their crime.
- To allow community
members to decide what is needed to restore the offender to the community.
how it works:
- Victims are encouraged
to participate in the panel process.
- Victims submit
a written statement concerning the crime or set up a telephone interview
to speak about how they have been effected.
- The panel reviews
the offender’s case and decides on how they will hold the offender
accountable for his/her crime and create a contract for the youth to
complete.
